I recommend against using a laminate bevel-edge router bit around the outer edge of the piece, and instead I suggest a vertical cut, as I noted in my first posting. The reason is that if you bevel it around the outer edge, that rounded edge, combined with the slightly outward bevel of the inset fiberglass galley top will leave you with a 'trough' around the rim of the laminate and it will henceforth catch crumbs and dirt and be difficult to clean. By using a vertical cut, as I did, and making a very accurate template, you will make the laminate virtually flush against the edges of the galley and hence make it much easier to clean.

I do recommend, as I noted in my original response, that you use a laminate bevel-edge router bit around the opening for the sink so that you reduce the chances of any chipping of that opening and also provide a smooth transition to the sink itself.

You can buy saw blades....

... with the teeth reversed to cut from the top side.
Yup - in a jiffy it's an easy matter (it takes seconds to do) to make your own reverse blade from a standard blade using a bench grinder by grinding the teeth at what would normally be the point of the bit. Just as you would (or, at least I do) for a normal blade if it had broken off at the tang. Some tang shapes are easier than others to replicate, and some blade holders are more tolerant than others to size variations.

Since you're now cutting from the top; if cutting more scratch-prone materials (Formica is pretty forgiving in this regard, but even it can be scuffed by its own chips caught between the vibrating sabre saw base and the material) you can apply tape to the base (shoe) of the sabre saw as a cushion. I like electrical tape for this, but whatever's available will do the trick.

Which is why I just cut from the back. You don't need to apply tape, worry about the surface or buy (or make) reverse saw blades. Just flip over your template and off you go!

There primary purpose is cutting out sink openings in countertops where you can't cut from the back side but I've also cut a counter tops out at ...

...an angle from the top like above in our kitchen where one end is cut at an angle. Since they cut so nice I'll also cut other pieces from the top (not Formica) as it is quicker to layout and cut but both methods have their good and bad points :) ,
