I like the cost and weight of the kettle grill, but the size and versatility of the Newport.

I take mine off. It seems solid enough, but I don't like to leave stuff on that can be taken off. Others have reported leaving it on and it fares well. I guess for short distances, I'd be okay. Long trips, the clamp makes it so easy to remove, why not just take it off.EZ wrote:How does it hold up during trailering while mounted on the stern rail?
I believe the older Magmas had lids that weren't hinged, but my kettle style definitely is.
