My wife and I have been sailing now for about 3 years on OPBs and our dingy and we finally took the plunge this past week. Found the forum and wanted to say hello. Pics included since threads are worthless without pics!
We found a beautifully kept 1981 Mac 25 only 30 minutes from our house with a slip for the rest of the year.
Here is a tour!
Stern view. All sheets are being replaced this week along with some block fixes to the mainsheet system.
Finally at sail. Sails are original we think and need to be replaced desperately! But, we were able to hit 5.5 knots (GPS) with pretty moderate wind so no complaints here.
Big Lake! This is where we are in a slip currently.
Solar battery tender. Pretty simple electric on the boat with pull start 2 stroke and just a depth/fish finder to run.
We have already spent many nights on the hook testing everything out. She needs some work for sure but is in great shape. Lots of room inside for our family. A pack and play straps in at the dinette for our 1 year old perfectly. Our 4 year old spent the whole time out having a ball. Wasn't even interested in electronics for 2 full days. What a great time for the whole family!
Hello AlaskaMC. Your boat looks great, nice pics. Enjoy all your future adventures with your kids, we had many great times with ours on Metronome. You will create lots of fun filled family memories that are treasured by all involved, not to mention many great life lessons along the way.

We are really enjoying it. We needed a fun thing that we could all do together. Thanks!

New guy/gal buys the pizza!
Best part is that we can get pizza delivered to our slip! I know that may not seem a big deal to those of you living down south but in Alaska that is just incredible!
The Mac's can be great boats for a family with children.
I really think they are perfect in fact for a family boat. I wish more manufacturers were doing this for sailboats. The new Macs are very cool no doubt, but I think if they were to produce 2 boats, a dedicated sailor would sell well. I mean look at what Hunter/Cat/Bene get for a new 25 foot boat. I know that producing one model at a time helps keep the costs down, but a new straight up sailboat from Mr. Mac would be very cool to see.

Welcome!
Thanks for the compliment. I will be sure to pass it along to her this afternoon! We really did get pretty lucky. Every time I think there may be an issue, I realize that it is in great shape. It will be the perfect boat to make our own.

They are an odd beast that shows up for only about 5 months a year, then everything goes strangely white and quiet for the next 7. All joking aside, we are already getting our first gold and red leaves on the trees as of this week.
