26X bassboat

Post by lee308 »

Spent a week at Lake Martin Al. Beatiful place. If this image works, you can see my solar powered anchor light. Now where to mount that trolling motor???? PS, Saw three or four other 26X's there. Trailered my boat, Aberro, 200 miles, no problem. I could get use to living like that.

lee, I was able to cut and paste your Yahoo site and see the two photos. I wonder why it didn't appear above.

Maxwell Air Base has a recreational sight on Martin. Have you ever been there. Id like to plan a trip sometime.

I had trouble this morning trying to insert a picture. The Img thing would pop to the bottom. I just tried it and it works. A star or asterisk goes into it's box. :?

I can only learn by trial and error and will eventually be successful by accident, just a matter of remembering exactly how the accident happended.

It seems that Yahoo album page cannot be linked for the individual pictures, but they're sure worthy of a glimpse. Photobucket would solve that problem.

BTW - it appears in the first photo (taken amidst the trees) that the boat was "sans mast?"

Yep! True bassboat configuration. I was under some trees fishing and the mast would have been a problem, plus a bridge or two. Heck, In four days, I only used about 5 gallons of fuel. Also note the waterline, that is with ballast tank full. Less rocking when the 100hp 16ft fishing boats go by. PS, I was "singlehanding". I also have the keel protector on it so beaching it is no worry.

FYI, my water usage was about 1.3 gal/day. I used lake water to bath in. It was a little cool to swim. My boat can carry 45 gals, but I only took 10. Of course, I had a few other beverages.

The solar anchor light really worked well. I put in on a wooden dowel and stuck it in the mast crutch mount.

I gotta say, I really like this boat, I've had it two years and this is the best trip yet. My little F150 got 16mpg towing it at around 60-65mph. (don't use 5th gear, 4th all the way, per owners manual.) The whole trip cost me less than $65 dollars. I used the Windcreek park for water, free, and launching was a one time $4 dollars. I had to call about 3pm to advise them my truck would be left at the launch. No problem. Cell phone signal was about 50/50 depending on which cove you were in. There were showers at the launch site, but I felt a little gulity about using them and only paying 4 bucks. And what the heck, I was alone

Kudo's to the WindCreek Park Marina, seemed a first rate marina. Plenty of parking, I'm sure weekends are more crowded.

I have been bass fishing for years on the Columbia......I love to see the faces of the bass boaters when I come whipping into two feet of water then drift with them.......in an evil way, I like to see the keel boats try to follow me and then they run aground(they don't look at their charts).....I feel guilt all of a sudden......... :macx: Randy
