I'm going to have to change my name for 2014

Post by SENCMac26x »

I had a 1987 Macgregor 25 that my family and I were sailing and for the most part enjoying, although it was too spartan for my wife to imagine more than the "occasional" overnight. On top of that, the currents and sometimes narrow channels in this area and my ussually tight schedules made it a little more difficult to spend time on the more traditional style sailboat. (I don't like motoring, if I have to motor I want to get there to get it over with)

About a month ago my wife and I went up to Raleigh to look at "Private Island", a 2002 26x in excellent condition owned by Patrick, one of our fellow board members here. (Thanks Patrick!)

After seeing the boat, I got an enthusiastic thumbs up from the wife and 2 of the 3 kids. (Apparently my 3 year likes the pink windows of the 25)

We purchased the boat and I've only been lucky enough to get it out on the Cape Fear once since I brought it home in November but it's won everyone in my family's approval.

Right now it's getting bottom painted to go into a Slip in CB Basin to make access to it a little eaiser in 2014 and hopefully will greatly increase my water-time.

So in 2014 the Mac 25 will be going up for sale, I'll be changing my sign in and I'll hopefully meet many more of you on the water!

Happy New Year Everyone

Congrats on the purchase. Fair winds and smooth sailings are my wishes for you.

It was hard for me to sell the boat, but when I saw the way your eyes lit up when you were looking at her I knew it was going to the right home. I hope you didn't have to wipe up to many of my tears out of her. and if I remember right, someone said some thing about a ride some time  . If you get a chance post some pics for me.
Patrick

Ps; what ever you do stay away from the nc sail group. There a bad influence .
