Southport is on the admiral's short list for places to retire to, and she wants to haul the boat down there for a couple of weeks this coming June so she can sniff around to get a feel for the place. The boat, of course, is to make ME happy, not her.

The calendar is strictly a coincidence. :D

it's official then we will have the sail on the weekend of June 6, 7, and 8. I will arrange dockage for the group somewhere for Friday night. Then we can sail to Wilmington on Saturday and tie up at the dock in front of the hotel and do some sight seeing there, I think there is a Main Street Brewery we can visit, then head back to the ramp on Sunday. Or we could sail to the same place we were at last year and enjoy a nice campfire to cook over and tell tall tales.

I emailed you. If we go to downtown Wilmington for the night, lets see if we can dock along the waterfront. The marina is actually pretty inconvenient to downtown.

The dock I'm talking about is along the waterfront. It is the same one that we docked at when we went on the scallywag sail with Eric Hardt. It's located in front of the hotel and run by the city. We even used the hotel pool on the sly

Thats perfect, the marina I was talking about avoiding is further north on the other side of a major highway junction.

I saw Victor's 3 pictures from last year. The weekend you've scheduled works with our schedule this year. Do you have a plan on specific destinations or anchorages?

We headed west last year and are wanting to head to the east coast for our 2014 big trip!

I will talk with a couple of the Marinas to set up a spot for Friday night that should be close to the ramp. :) Then plan on sailing up the Cape Fear River to water front in Wilmington NC and tie up next to a hotel where we can relax by the pool 8) and then vote on where to go out to eat Saturday night or eat at the boat. Then Sunday head back to the ramp and pull out for the ride back to the real world. :(

Doug, pm me and let me know what you have in mind time wise. Were you wanting to spend a couple of extra nights? etc...
I looked up the tides and they should be favorable for a trip up to Wilmington so we won't be bucking the current. If we get an early enough start Sunday coming back to Southport maybe we can take you out onto the ocean.

I sent email to the address you submitted earlier in the thread. We would stay a few extra days and are interested in doing most anything. I'll ping some of you with ideas about sandy islands that we could beach/anchor at after the weekend is over.

Looking at satellite views & activecaptain.com, it'd be interesting to us to do the Wilmington waterfront and also anything around Southport too!

Do you have a list started of boats wanting to join in?

Thanks!
