Interestingly, I just bought an e-bike trailer that uses lead batteries. $600 new, it's a pusher-trailer that can drive any regular bike. In this particular application, the weight of the lead is an advantage that provides traction for the trailer.

You can get it with a lithium-Ion, but it's twice the price.
