Re: Southport Sail
We just purchased a Intext 3 person Dinghy off Amazon for $68 shipped after finding out about the dock problem. A number of people had great things to say about that brand.

Link to it on amazon? I searched but there are a few of them. I'm curious and looking to get one for myself.vkmaynard wrote:We just purchased a Intext 3 person Dinghy off Amazon for $68 shipped after finding out about the dock problem. A number of people had great things to say about that brand.

Re: Southport Sail
Thanks Vic, hopefully my engine will be running this weekend. It's been giving me lots of fits these past few months, and I've gotten good at taking apart and cleaning the carbs....oh and docking my boat without power or under sail. (Unfortunately, I've been testing my dockmasters patience as I can't quite make it all the way down the row to my slip, I have to hit an unoccuppied one closer to the end)
I'm installing a new canister fuel filter/water seperator this weekend to help prevent issues in the future and installing new float pins (and other parts of the kit) ..... if all goes well, I'll still be able to meet you guys on Saturday

Re: Southport Sail
Vic, it's the 50hp Yamaha that came with it. Apparently the liner in the fuel hose dissolved and some of the plastic crap got sucked into the engine....every time I (or we, I've had a mechanic look at it several times) it's comes out of some nook r cranny again.
We've replaced every rubber hose on the engine, and the fuel line coming in and checked the tanks....luckily it seems to be less each time.
It ran fine until Feb and has given me fits since.
I've seriously considered repowering, but it's not in the cards this year.

Re: Southport Sail
Quick update. The Wilmington City dock is full for the weekend. Yes I dropped the ball.
I guess my only excuse is that I was on Island time mon
. However the choices for sailing activities here are endless. I have booked Friday night the 6th at Southport Marina for the following people;
Galactica
Storm Walker
Syzygy
Compromise
XX
Boom Boom II
Knot Shore
If there are any others then you will need to contact them yourselves. ALSO if you are coming in prior to the 6th or staying longer than the 6th then you will need to contact the marina and let them know. You will need a 50 amp adapter in order to use the electricity as that is all they have available.
Southport Marina: (910)457-5701.
From there we will plan on staying on the hook with beach access and cook out on the beach or on the boats and have a potluck. Bring your own meat (dish) and one other side dish to share. Don't worry if you don't have a dingy, we will be able to get close enough to the beach that you won't need one.

Re: Southport Sail
Galactica is on board.
We will be arriving Thursday so I'll contact the Marina tomorrow or monday if they're not open.
Small world, my boss who retired last month is staying on Bald Head island so we'll sail over to that marina and each lunch with them Friday and be back to Southport Marina mid afternoon Friday!

Ron, which beach are you planning on going to? Masonboro, the Carolina Beach north end? Oak Island?

Re: Southport Sail
Have not decided yet. I am going to call the cities of Holden and Oak Island to see if we can have a fire on the beach. if not then we may head to Masonboro Island. As soon as I know something then I will post and let everyone know.SENCMac25 wrote:Ron, which beach are you planning on going to? Masonboro, the Carolina Beach north end? Oak Island?
