Steering wheel replacement
Steering wheel replacement
Anybody know of a source for a 6-spoke steering wheel for a 26X? I'd like one about the same diameter as the stock 5-spoke wheel.

Thanks Max E. I didn't see specs on the link. Wondering about this. Looks like I need a 3/4" tapered shaft, but I don't know the angle of taper on the X (10 degrees maybe?).

Re: Steering wheel replacement
These things are pretty standard; I've replaced a few in my time. For alternative diameters or more selection just search including terms like 'destroyer wheel', 'boat steering wheel' '6 spoke', 'six spoke', 'tapered', etc. For example, using ebay logic, the search term ('destroyer wheel', 'steering wheel') boat ('6 spoke', 'six spoke') produces the following result:Jane wrote:Thanks Max E. You can always ask the seller a question, such as the degree of the dish.

Re: Steering wheel replacement
Westmarine used to handle them. They are just a powerboat 15" 10 degree wheel. I put the 18" ,10 degree helm on my 99. Best mod I ever did. 1: now you have a sailboat helm 2: handling is much easier.
