Mac 22 drain plug

Post by LoHo »

This is the first boat I've owned that lacks a drain plug for the hull. How many of you have one or have retrofitted one?

Personally, I have never needed a drain plug. I try to keep water from getting in in the first place......

The only Mac with a drain plug was the 21, I believe, and that was only a cockpit drain. As the Mac boats have been designed with enclosed cabin spaces which run entirely from bow to stern, and an elevated cockpit which is self-draining, there's really been no need for a hull drain. That's not to say that they sometimes don't get a little water in the bilge, but ordinarily this is a primarily dry space. And actually, that's one of the important attributes of the Mac's... they're dry!
