asymmetrical spinnaker

what is a good size for my . I found one I can purchase for a good price, but maybe its too big?? Its advertising 3/4 oz 30 luff, 35 leech, 22 foot. I don't want to get too small as will wish later to get larger. but I can start in very light winds. im no expert by far and kinda new to this sailing. when I do get one I will be asking help setting it , but that later. any advise be great.

I don't know that actual dimensions of the 'standard' Mac assym, but the 20 ft Chutescoop doesn't completely swallow it. A 25 footer will. So the longest dimension is a little less than 25 ft. The one you're looking at is a lot bigger.

So what your saying is its way to big, and not do-able at all?

I'm trying to say everything except that, as I suppose anything is possible. But going from a 25 to a 35 ft leech, and assuming the other dimensions are similarly scaled up, would give you about twice the sail area as the 'budget' spinnaker MacGregor offered for these boats. Even if there was enough mast, I'm not sure I'd want anything that big up there, even in very light air.

I do have the Mac spinnaker also, I have its measurements around somewhere I,ll see if I can find them if someone else does not post it later

Ok I thank yall for the advice. I'm going to not get that one and start looking for one that's a right fit. Highlander if you can find right dimensions I would appreciate it.

I have one I bought at a 2nd hand place that's just a bit too long on the luff. It's pretty useless until I jury rig a bowsprit from maybe some aluminum pipe.
If you can't get the correct luff tension forget it. It's only going to help you if you are going down wind and even then it will be sloppy.

Well have not measured mine yet , but as far as I can find out its Luff 27' X Leech 24'.6" X Foot 17' 6" Factory cruising Spinnaker

Sliighty bigger mostly on the foot on the cruiser spinnaker , where as the drifter is cut more like a Genoa

I got mine going today and had a lovely steep reach most of the day in light conditions...wonderful.
I found something quick to make a bowsprit with and it worked great. Just the thing for those days with barely a ripple of wind. I think my sail is more like a gennaker. I can about do a beam reach with it. But it's definetely triangle shaped and not ballon shaped.
