Hello everyone. I rounding third on replacing all my standing rigging and also got A.S.A. certified in basic keel boat sailing last weekend. I'm getting ready to purchase my lines and I noticed I'm not sure how I am supposed to run my halyard for the main. In looking at the top of the mast there is no block or pulley to run the halyard through. The jib block is on there (I removed because I'm replacing so it isn't in the picture) There is no opening on the bottom of the mast for the halyard to run inside so I'm assuming I must be missing a block? I can't really see where one would go. Does anyone have a photo of their mast on V222 so I can see what it is supposed to look like? Is the solution right in front of me and I'm too stupid to see it? (this is probably the most likely scenario) I wouldn't think it would attached where my backstay attaches because it's so far away from the mast. The jib block is attached to where the headstay attaches but it looks like it belongs there.
I can see the bolt that I would think a block attachs to but it's solid in there. No way to attach a block. It's strange.
Thanks for any help you can provide. Ignore all the doubling up of the stays. I'm replacing the old ones and they'l be cut-off soon.
I feel like either I have stumped the experts.....or my question is so stupid because the answer is over obvious and right in front of me it's not worth replying? Hopefully the second one? On a side note I'm part of the crew on my first sailboat race this weekend. Just finished my A.S.A. certification course and looking to get more experience before I get her in the water.
