how do i put numbers on my sail?

Post by Rich Walton »

So I am STILL trying to get my boat launched here in Curacao, The rules here are CRAZY! I sure miss the US some times! First I have to register the boat. The Government wants the motor S/N not the hull ID. No proof of insurance or real proof that the boat is mine. They asked for a bill of sale so I showed them the one I got at the boat show (Not what I would call Official) and get the boat registered! Now I have to pass a boat inspection (I have to pay for that too) and then I need a license (More money).

But I am on my way! So to pass the inspection I need to put my new vessel # on EVERY THING! So here is my question how do I put it on my sail (Min 10 cm) without using a sharpie? I would like it to look good without having to pay to have it sewn on? Any ideas?

(And after I FINALY get this all done If you guys come to Curacao, you will have to stop buy and go for a sail or at least grab a beer on a Dutch beach with me)

Look up Para Gear web site. It's been several years since I skydived but I would think they have a site. Look for "self adhesive rip stop". It comes in about a 2 inch width and would be real easy to apply to the sail

Good suggestion. I was gonna suggest coloured sail-tape. Would last at least most of the season until you've got your sails to a sailmaker for a more permanent fix.
