Another Mac doing the loop pulled in beside us

Post by ris »

We are in Grand Harbor Marina on Pickwick Lake. Today a couple of older guys in a 26S pulled into the slip next to us. They started the loop in Lake Barkley. They are Max and Caleb. I asked if they came to this website and they said no but they know about Sumners' journeys in his 26S. They have a 9.9 Honda and travel about 4 or 5 mph. They said this might be their last big adventure. We are heading down the TennTom Sunday and they will be a couple of days behind us.

If you get the chance, head into town and get tickets to the Branson style stage show. It's excellent, and a lot of fun. Best of luck on your way down the Tenn-Tom.

The Tenn-Tom is a waterway consisting of the Tennessee and Tombigbee rivers. According to Wikipedia, "The Tennessee–Tombigbee Waterway is a 234-mile man-made waterway that extends from the Tennessee River to the junction of the Black Warrior-Tombigbee River system near Demopolis, Alabama, United States."

Sumner is one of the "legends" in this forum. You can read about his various adventures at http://www.purplesagetradingpost.com/.

Also, you can search his posts in this site as he offers a lot of constructive advice in his posts. In fact, you can soak up a lot of great info if you flip through various topics in this site. Most of the guys here are a wealth of knowledge regarding these boats, modifying them, and most importantly enjoying them.

Reading the posts on this site are what convinced me to buy my boat. Although I will admit that reading all of the dire criticism of these boats on other sites helped as well. Anything that causes hate and disgust from people who have never even set foot on one, is worth checking out.

Yes one member of the boating community that has never set foot on a Mac was telling everyone that cared to listen all about the sailing characteristics of Macs. (all negative of course)

Beats me how he would know, but apparently he is a bit of an expert, well according to him!! :D
