location of spare tire mount

Post by bellevuesailor »

I got a u bracket and mounted the spare tire on the side of the ladder on a steel OEM trailer. Does anyone else do this? Does this impact the balance of the trailer?

I put one each side, on a custom mount I made that also has a 2" square receiver for a bike mount or platform cargo carrier. Nice and balanced that way ha ha.

Don't worry about balance. That little weight that close to the trailer centerline won't make any difference.

You should be fine, but putting one on each side is a better idea.

Ditto, but my trailer goes about 5 miles twice a year, so I'm no SME
