bimini height ......

Post by rszobel »

Last year i installed stern rail seats on my 2001 X - they are from Dowsar Marine. I love them, but .....

when the bimini is up it sits basically in the lap of anyone in a stern rail seat. I would love to be able to have a higher section for the stern, but have no idea where to look or if it would have to be custom-made. Any suggestions?

My :macx: bimini height is just under the rigged boom. I do not have stern rail seats on my boat but know what they are, such as pictured on Dowsar Marine website.

The post above makes it sound like the stern rail seats are about two feet too high, or the "up" bimini is too low.
:?: :?:

I once crewed on an :macm: with stern rail seats and bimini and did not experience what rszobel describes.
I can picture a bimini in the down position being an issue with the seats. On my :macx:, I have a hook on the backstay to which I tie up the folded bimini so as to not impede the transom seat.

If you are looking at a custom higher rear bimini, the backstay will likely be a challenge.
