Honda BF50D
Honda BF50D
Hello, I have a Honda BF50D outboard and I would like to know the mounting dimensions of the mounting screws. Is there a template for this?
Thanks

This is all the assist I can offer at this point in time ( boats in the water ).
a pic of the transom area of our X. Maybe it’ll help you do needed calculations.

Re: Honda BF50D
Sorry, no Honda data. But here is my (rough) measurements of mounting holes for 1995 Evinrude 70 hp, which are also good for (unknown year) Mercury Bigfoot 50hp. This similarity makes me think there is some kind of standard.
Upper pair of holes, horizontal distance: 12.9"
Lower pair of holes, horizontal distance: 9.9"
Vertical distance between upper and lower: 8.0"
Diameter: 0.5"
Sorry again, I don't have measurement from the top of transom to upper holes.
Owners/installation manual should have these. Also, here:

Now I have another difficult test... I have to mount the remote control and I don't know what would be the best position.
If I put it normally-horizontally, the control-cables go in the wrong direction, but I have good control on the handle.
If I mount it vertically, the control-cables have the right direction, but it is inconvenient to operate the handle.
How did you solve this problem?
Many thanks!

This might help... BF50 Control Rework

Although I would buy one of Uflex-style universal side-mount handles, they have cables and box neatly hidden inside the pedestal

Mine is mounted this way. Up is forward, down reverse. Keeps it out of the way.

I've tried it both ways and settled on the way Russ has his.
