Standard Bulb replacements?
Anyone know what the standard bulbs/sockets are for an
(2000) , particularly for the masthead and steamer? (The two lights that have to be replaced before I raise the stick tomorrow.)
I checked the manual but did not find them listed.

Re: Standard Bulb replacements?
My 26M steaming light uses a "festoon" bulb. Not sure what the X was using. You should pull the bulb and see what Roger installed.
The mast head light is not stock, so it could be anything. Again, pull the bulb to find the base type.

Re: Standard Bulb replacements?
Be careful. There are at least three versions of the festoon bulb. One has a loop of wire at the end, one (like the picture above) has a "pointy end" that fits into a indentation in the holder, and the third is a mirror image with an indentation in the bulb and a "bump" on the holder that fits into it.
I think the Aqua Signal part number is 90200-7 and I'm pretty sure it is the concave (indented) version. I'm out of town and can't verify that. Sorry.

Yes. Well.
You see. I pulled them last year with the full intention of replacing them, and then promptly misplaced them.

While you are waiting for someone else to look at theirs (looks like I'm stuck here until at least Tuesday now) you can check your fixtures. If it has a bump on the contacts then the bulb will have a dimple. If the connection in the fixture has a dimple them the bulb will have a point.

Re: Standard Bulb replacements?
The "masthead light" and the "steaming light" are actually the same light located on the front of the mast about halfway up. There are no circumstances, motoring, sailing or anchoring, where that light is ever required to be used on a 26 ft sailboat if one has an all around white light at the top of the mast, a "mast top light" a.k.a. "anchor light."
To comply with the rules (without using a steaming/masthead light) including anchoring, motoring and sailing, you need:
(1) For motoring, a white 360 degree light at the top of the mast, plus red and green side lights,
(2) For sailing, a white stern light, plus red and green side lights. Alternatively, a three-colored light at the top of the mast.
(3) For anchoring, a white light at the top of the mast.
Thus, you have the option of just dispensing with the masthead light entirely. You can get a new regulation mast top light (anchor light) with an expected life of at least 10,000 hours burn time for less than $20 on Amazon, $40 at West Marine.
RULE 21 Definitions (a) “Masthead light” means a white light placed over the fore and aft centerline of the vessel showing an unbroken light over an arc of the horizon of 225 degrees and so fixed as to show the light from right ahead to 22.5 degrees abaft the beam on either side of the vessel.
RULE 23 Power-driven Vessels Underway (a) A power-driven vessel underway shall exhibit: (i) a masthead light forward; (ii) a second masthead light abaft of and higher than the forward one; except that a vessel of less than 50 meters in length shall not be obliged to exhibit such light but may do so; (iii) sidelights; and (iv) a sternlight.
RULE 23—CONTINUED (c) A power-driven vessel of less than 12 meters in length may, in lieu of the lights prescribed in paragraph (a) of this Rule, exhibit an all-round white light and sidelights.
RULE 25 Sailing Vessels Underway and Vessels Under Oars (a) A sailing vessel underway shall exhibit: (i) sidelights; (ii) a stern light. (b) In a sailing vessel of less than 20 meters in length the lights prescribed in paragraph (a) of this Rule may be combined in one lantern carried at or near the top of the mast where it can best be seen.

Re: Standard Bulb replacements?
All true, but the preferred lighting for a power driven vessel is masthead, stern light, and side lights. The all-round white with the side lights is permitted for vessels of our size but it would also require you to extinguish your stern light. Unless you have rewired your navigation lights you cannot turn the side lights on without also turning on the stern light.
If you leave the stern light on then from the stern you would see white over white which only shown on an anchored vessel.
From the side it would have the right lights but in the wrong orientation. The white lights with the forward light higher says "anchored" but the red or green light says "underway". If a power driven vessel underway is showing two white lights the forward light has to be the lower of the two.
It would only be showing the proper lights from the bow (because you can't see the stern light).
