Here’s a NON Mac name! It amuses me and seems like many of the boats in the marina. Especially many of the power craft around

Wow - that must have been some concerning: stuck in a 20 foot deep stone-walled lock with another boat on fire. There is no way to go up up (in every sense of the word) if things didn't get under control.Starscream wrote: ↑Fri Jan 23, 2026 3:56 pm When we did our mini-triangle loop tour this summer we were behind a large cabin cruiser who was doing a Great Loop. The boat name was "Job Site", so the owner could then say "I'm on the Job Site" on the phone and not be lying.
Funny story, one of their bilge pumps engaged and didn't cut off, ran dry and started smoking in one of the Rideau Locks. Stuck in the chamber with the boat beside us starting to pour smoke: I was about 30 seconds from getting the fam overboard towards the lock escape ladder when they were able to extinguish it. I had them briefed on the procedure about 5 seconds after we first smelled the smoke.
My advice for those looking to name their boats, depending on their usage of it of course, is to choose something easy to "catch" on the radio. It really helps when the hail-ee gets the boat name on the first try and doesn't have to respond with "Vessel hailing the Xstreet bridge...etc."

My parents' first boat, a 22' Chris*Craft Utility, was bought with a partner. It was named using parts of their last names, therefore: COU*LIN*BREEZE
My Mac is neither a normal sailboat nor a normal powerboat, hence: Y.B.NORMAL
Of course, our families are kinda crazy too.
Behind it we tow our 8' tender: A Little Dinghy
We get a lot of laughs and good comments about the names.

Oh, we need a list of fun tender names.
A friend named his boat "Queen Mary" after his wife. Tendor was named "Teeny Queenie"

According to a local marine store manager, a boat owner at a local marina had this name on his boat:
QWYBMABIITY
Folks would ask about the name and he’d reply:
Question, would you buy me a beer if I tell you? If You’d say yes , and he’d repeat: Question, would you buy me a beer if I tell you
Eventually it gets figured out what being meant! Boat owner didn’t have to buy a beer for two years.

Re: Great names for your boat 2026
I have an S model.... so "Knot So Fast"?
I also like plays on same sounding words like "Viatamin Sea" or "Seas the Day" or "Mac N Seas"
Fart jokes are always the best so how about "Passing Wind" or "Nauti Wind" or "Back Draft" or seems how this is my second boat I could call it "Number 2".
Mine is definitely a fixerupper.... so "Trailer Trash"? Or continuing on the trailer theme, "No Slip, No Problem".
Im getting into middle aged, how about "Midlife Mac"
Or if you're a TNG Trek-y:
"Make It So"
"Engage"
"Warp Speed" (if you have a X or M)
"Quarter Impulse" (for the C's)
"Away Team" if its the family boat
Or if you want to make fun of yourself it could be "pinocchio" or "Schrodinger's Boat"
Or Trek-y and making fun of yourself: "Fully Functional"

Re: Great names for your boat 2026
BoatEFX.COM. For me, the expense is worth it as it will allow this old man to launch and recover his boat by himself . . . again! I have to swing my leg over the rail but that is way easier than the rope ladder I was using.
I haven’t added the foam pads yet. Waiting for warmer/drier conditions.

Re: Great names for your boat 2026
I’m an oldie with a X, and last fall rescued an ‘89D from a cedar hedgerow. ( I will share that recovery story in a few months with pics of the process. )
The 26D was named:

Dan the PO, had recovered from a motorcycle crash, and was so delighted he named her ‘Still in the Game’ because he was still sailing. Boat was semi-retired when he moved on to a 38’ sailboat a couple years ago
Now ‘Still in the Game’ describes where/ how, some of us are feeling. Stairway to heaven’ sure assists in that activity.
