For Sloop, football madness

Post by Randy Smith »

since my OSU Beavers hung their cleats after Oregon beat them, I am pulling for USC...I don't have a complete listing of the bowls yet...but need the Pac 10 to do well as we don't have the money the other conferences have....SEC for instance....

Now we all know the Big Ten Rules. I just wish my OSU Buckeyes had not lost to Texas in the last two minutes.

:) .. I can remember when the word "HOCKEY" meant something one does when they visit the 'outhouse': ( those little cabins that has a half moon cut-a-way in the door). But now, when one is doing HOCKEY...it's an all new meaning (kick chit outta the first person that gets in ones way), but call it a GAME (almost like USA FOOTBALL) :!:

PROBLEM: Not enough scoring.....the game would be BORING without the SAVAGERY. not really..JUST KIDDING...I hope folks UP YONDER have a sense of HUMOR....

I agree Louis, the game of hockey could be sped up if "icing" were taken out of it....more puck pickin needed....of course that would not be the game purists are used to, it would be like taking a V berth out of a sailboat.....

:) .. seeing some of the excitement folks display at a SOCCER arena never ceases to amaze me...ALL that HOLLERING and "CARING ON" for an ending score of victors = 2, defeats=1, SIGH....HA... (About as exciting as an overtime baseball game, tied 2/2 in the 12th inning and weather is drizzling, the players all have the CROUCH ADJUSTMENT NEED, and just love to SPIT continuously...YUK :!: )

The game would be more interesting without the GOALIEs....lets get some SCORING OUT YONDER FELLAS....good grief....Oh Never MInd...its just a "GAME"...heh heh.

Randy; hate to say it, but Football is Canadian, is was invented in the 1600's by British replacement troops coming to the Citadel in Quebec. Canadian Universities introduced it to American Collages in the 1800s, by that time Canada had a professional league of sorts. We just play our 95th Grey cup game(i think)

It can be for racing or recreation....our Macs can go fishing, water sporting and many other sporting activities...I use my mac to retreive duck decoys that get away from me........just sporting.....

basketball too!

Post by bob lee »

oh ya, In 1891, the Canadian educator James Naismith, an instructor at the Springfield, Massachusetts YMCA Training School, invents the game of basketball, attaching two peach baskets to the tops of ladders at opposite ends of a gymnasium floor.

(doesnt mean we're any good at it, except for our guy mr nash!)

Thanks Bob, I did not know that football was Canadian....How did Dr. N get a peach basket if he was Canadian? :?

Regardless, I will submit to Canada's 28 million people(85%of them living within 150miles of the US border) being a great Nation....."Oh Canada...."

I think the Rose Bowl will be too close to place a bet. Southern Cal has all the guns, but I haven't seen Texas play, except for their highlights.

I wonder if Mr. lee is right. I understood football to have evolved from rugby, but were the Brits in Canada the necessary link?
