Marathon Fl Nov 27 - Dec 4

Post by James V »

I am planing on being in Marathon Fl from Nov 27 to Dec 4th. There should be from 200 to 400+ cruising boats there and I would like to see some more Mac's besides me.

If anybody is going, Please let me know.

I do not know of anything special, Well just the normal stuff. Snorkeling, beaches, great fishing, a bus that goes From Key West to Miami every day - several times a day, Great seafood, ect..... There are mooring buoys but reservations are needed. There is also a water taxi.

Some of the clearest water that you will see and up to 400+ cruisers in one place at one time.

Do you know of any boat ramps and places to leave cars/trailers for a few days?

normo - Sorry, I do not have any knowledge as I motor sail from Ft Myers area. Below is the list that I found. If you are a yacht club member or maby SSCA try Marathon Yacht Club. If not try it anyway and ask if they know of anybody that has that service. If you do put in on the gulf side it is a 7 mile trip to the harbor under 7 mile bridge. I have been at the Fiesta Key KOA and they do have a boat ramp and may be able to let you use it for a fee. there is not much water at low water and a 30 mile water trip to Marathon.

You can also call Marathon City Marina. Their boat ramp is closed but they should be able to tell you where you can find one. 305-289-8877 or 7788. I don't know which is the right one.

boat ramps

Cannon Marine 305-289-0505
www.somberoresort.com 305-743-2250 not Sombero Marine
Marathon Yacht Club, maby 305-743-6739

Farco Blanco Marine resort 305-743-9018
Seven mile Marina 305-289-9849 maby

Another option is Maimi Mac's. Somebody there should know.

Please let me know what you find out.

on edit -
I will be leaving Key Largo from John Pennekamp State Park. They do have a ramp and places to park. A 50 mile sail/motor.
