Mac saves me Money!

Post by Compromise »

Went slip shopping this weekend having just applied new bottom paint.
I was used to Florida prices paying close to $300 a month. South Texas averages around $150, which to me is a bargain in itself. While at one particular Marina here, they informed me of their specials, ie: knocking $40 off for the first three months if I signed for a year. Then I came across the slip that only the Mac could berth! It's one of their shallow slips and therefore they lease it for only $80 a month!
The Harbour Master said the lowest it gets is three feet in winter when the tides are low! I signed up on the spot 8)
What's everyone else paying?

p.s. Frank if you read this I sent you a PM.

Alameda Marina is 4 miles SE from Treasure Island, SF Bay, along a narrow shipping channel. Mast-up dry storage is $70/mo, year round. Full floating wet slip, finger docks both sides, with water & elec is $190/mo., year round. Both include gate keys, vehicle parking & restroom w/shower.

It's cheaper than other Bay Area choices because of need to traverse the Alameda channel, 3 miles out to the Bay - not a problem with a powersailer, so I guess Roger's design is saving me a bit too!
(But $80 for a wet slip is an amazing deal!) :P

$85/mo in a mast-up dry storage facility with zero services, not even electricity or water. A wet slip is $180/mo with power & water, but I just can't bring myself to bottom paint. You have an awesome deal!

Best Kept Secret In SE Texas

Post by JonBill »

I pay $50 per month for a dry slip with power and water utilities provided and with bathhouse restroom and showers included. No over head obstructions between the dry slip and the boat launch so I leave the mast up and the boat ready to go. Where might you ask?

Palacios, TX harbor turning basin #3. Palacios is situated at the gateway to Matagorda bay and the vast Texas costal waterways. There are 4 boats there now in dry slips next to mine and room for about 2 or 3 more. Just contact the Matagorda County Navigation District #1 office in Palacios, TX and they will lease you a spot if interested.

Sad news is I don't think it will last much past the current lease year as they are negotiating with a developer to buy all the land around that part of the harbor. But will wait and see what they sell and what they hang on to. You could probably currently still get a one year lease there. My lease was just renewed.

Kind Regards,
JonBill
