New 26M Owner can't sleep!
Just took delivery of a 06 26M last week. I've been reading as much as I can on the site. What a wealth of information! I'm finishing up my 30 year Navy career and this boat is my retirement gift. Lots of plans for Shipalts (Mods) and alterations, taking some advice from the site to slow down and develop my priorities. I don't think I have ever researched anything as much as I have as this purchase. You guys gave me alot of confidence that I was making a good decision. Checked out several used boats but decided to start with my own mound of clay. Looking forward to becoming a contributing member.

paj637,
Welcome aboard. I am also a new Mac owner (just over 3 weeks now). I live in Valdosta GA but keep the boat at Jacksonville NAS.
And I agree with you on this board. Outstanding resource for me prior to making my purchase and now that I am an owner. I continue to read old posts just to learn "stuff" about the boat and sailing.
Best of Luck and "Fair Winds",
Jim

Congratulations on your Retirement By all Means!
Secondly Congratulations on your choice of Boat ownership.
Might I suggest, The Mac Mods Page's for many hours of good reading.
Take from it what suits your purposes and leave the rest , but I assure you there is much of interest over there.
SOooooooo
Where are you at / living for now ? Where do you hope to sail. What do you have n the transom?
Welcome to the Board Too !

Got a 50 Honda. Intend to sail around the coastal waters right at the GA/FL border. Cumberland Island, Amelia Island, ect. The wife and I intend to weekend aboard in the same areas and maybe a few short trips down the IC in FL until I get fully qualified. My boat is in St Marys, GA. right at the GA/FL border on I-95. Only problem is I'm still in the Navy in Charleston, SC for the next six months. Get to visit every weekend, good thing my wife is in the same place.
I haven't even raised the mast or put it in the water yet.
I feel like the kid on the Disney commercial, "I'm too excited to sleep"

no gray, Flat black with torpedos. No guns.. I'm a sub nuke LDO. I do have an electrical distribution system sketched out that would blow your mind. Shorepower, inverter off a house bank, 1.5KW generator, 30 amp battery charger. maybe a small solar panel. I was bored one night. Name still up in the air. Got a few bold names to run by the wife. VERACITY is my favorite.

This summer, when my brother knew I was coming out to the island, he & my 7 y/o nephew would get the arsenal ready an defend their dock against invaders! With a 6ft spud cannon and a surgical tube waterballon launcher, they came close, but I always got away unscathed. I've always wanted to be able to fire back!...and equip her with a deck gun

I knew I'd get at least one bubblehead comment.
Thanks for all the well wishes for retirement. Really looking forward to it. Those of you in the FL area, how's the Green Cove Springs area. I have heard of some really nice weekend trips. Also, just south of Amelia Island above Mayport. Sailing out of NASJAX seems to be a safe first trailering run for me. Anyhow, I really enjoy the forum and am eager to learn more lessons learned.
