We had 10" of snow predicted for yesterday.
I was going to go out and throw snowballs at cars.
All we got was some flurries.
Very disappointing.

Your Alum reinforcement transom plates are cut & ready just got to chamfer the edges and polish them up of course for that nice copy cat of my boat :D :D :D :P
got high speed as of today what a diff. :)

bombardier have organized one of their mechanics to come up from sydney to look at my engine this week ..will keep you posted .

I have a 90 E-TEC with a 14 X 11 mounted on an 07 M. It only has about 3 hours and limited WOT but the speed was about 26 MPH into the wind and almost 30 MPH with the wind at our back. RPM's were about 5800, which is a little high. I want to put a few more hours on the engine before I change props but had considered a 14 X 13 to reduce the RPM's.

Hole shot (take off) is like a rocket compared to the 50 HP Honda I had on a 99X. You better be sitting down or holding on to the wheel. Good luck on your checkout. I'll let you know if I get any updates.

Sorry I'm not a knots man. I'm use to 60 MPH in a bass boat.

If your top RPM is not dangerous to the motor, keep in mind that boats with cabins tend to accumulate stuff and as the weight goes up, the RPMs will come down.

Robert,

I agree. I should rephrase that statement. I want to put a few more hours on the engine before I load the boat up with all my "stuff". The first runs were with no mast, no ballast and two on board. Performance of the engine is the first priority. I'd like to get 20 MPH loaded, no ballast but that all depends on the load. I hope to get a few more runs this week including full ballast.

You will definately loose speed, and RPMs, as you add back the mast, rigging, and cruise stuff.

I'd hold off on a prop change...

i believe in the 11 pitch prop for a 90hp on a Mac.
once the boat is loaded up with gear (as it will be & should be) your RPM's will fall off. And you want to be at the top end of the RPM curve at WOT for your "waterbago".

I think the wax wore off. Added another person, a little more wind, a little more chop, a little more stuff. Speeds were still near 25 MPH but RPM's were about 5600. Speed was around 20 at 5000, 14 at 4500, and 8 to 12 at 4000 depending on the wind. Plenty of punch and maneuvers well. I hope I can stay in this range. If it does, I will stay with the 14 X 11 but I have aluminum and would prefer SS. WOT RPM range is 4500 to 5500.

I don't think one can make such a generalization. Every engine is different. I spin a 14x13 on an E-tec 50 which gets me to 5400-5500 RPM. This is just below the perfect range, but with my 13.25x13, I get 5650 and a bit less speed. I do hit 18-21 mph, lightly loaded w/o ballast with either prop but seems like the 14" will frequently get an extra 1 mph.

i'm specifically talking about a Tohatsu 90hp or Etec 90hp on an X or M. Not a 50hp (as in your case).

50's can do well with 10-13 pitch depending on prop diameter and powerhead.

I am still thinking with rpm range to be from 4500-5500 my 75 is beetter sooted to the 13 but I really have no idea till I try it out.

Bobby has far more experience with the bigger motors than I do, that is for sure. But I think his 90's rpm has a higher range spec than mine. I know my 75 is really a merc 90 4s efi that has been computer limited to 75 as it has the same specs as the 90 all the way down the page... till you get to rpm range, the 90 is 5500-6500. Now if I could only find a mech that drinks beer and would be willing to say.... fix my broken motor for me :wink:

My bad. Only that more HP and lower pitch? I'm a bit confused.

I need a mech like that too. My Etec 50 has an extra 10 hp that I wish I could unlock. Just one little software tweak I think.
