I'm not sure what type of faucet is put on the M. I wasn't happy with the plastic rocker pump on my 2002 X galley sink. I replaced it with a nice stainless piston pump unit from West Marine. I also installed a simple in line electric pump. That way I have the option of hand pumping water, or, usually when filling a large pot, I can turn on the electric switch. Works great.

James,

I almost immediately replaced it with an electirc pump and moved the 5-gal. "container" to the space beneath the galley -- then replaced that with a Plastimo bladder during our first winter.

I'm quite sure that I still have the hardly-used orignal pump, and if so, will gladly send it to you for the mailing cost. Send me a PM with your email & snailmail addresses.

I have a hunch that, if he's not careful, James could end up getting inundated with barely used factory pumps.

For his intended purpose, and for how long they last without leaking, he may want all he can get. Pressure water is nice but it's easy to use twice as much as with the hand pump faucets.

I put in a hand pump unit from West Marine. I think it is called the Whale. It is not a fancy electric one, but it is a solid unit that doesn't leak and works great. With the stock water bladder, it will suck that bag completely dry and vacuum out the air... Amazing difference from that POS stock one.

Thanks for the replies. I want a pump that will last for full time cruising so I will replace the stock with a better one, non-presure. I plan on 2 with a 2 stage filter. The little one will be filtered the most and used for drinking water and the other for washing and cooking.

The factory did not have a part number or maker so I thought that it could not be rebuilt. Another upgrade for the factory.

If I'm counting right, there are four of the faucets available, that I have been fixing for the past several years. I would love to pay the shipping for one or two of them. I will pay you up front, or if you send them , I will send you a check post haste. Jim nolan-113 Highland road- Sayre, Pa. 18840. I will start with Parrothead. If you please.

I love my pressure water system, probably the best mod on my boat. In the galley, I used my former kitchen faucet with a pull out spray head. I just ran a y-hose to both hot and cold. I also reinforced the thin fiberglass underneath with a bit of thin steel plate and it is solid as a rock and works great. Not quite as much pressure as at home, but enough to use it in spray mode if I so choose. One of these days I'll have to post pics. I also keep a washdown hose in the head sink cabinet which I can even flush the motor with if I feel like it. Goes all over the boat to wash off 6 pairs of sandy feet, etc. Big plastimo tank under the forward galley seat which is filled through a hole left by the stock pump faucet at the galley sink. The fill has worked great, not much difference in taking a hose into the galley than using a deck fill.

the Jabsco pump/faucet combo is not a pressure system. in fact you can utilize the existing collapsible 5 gal jug and insert the pump between the jug and faucet. add a 12 volt line and it's done.

my 5 gallons of water go much farther this way vs. the hand pump.

The main problem is that the pump in the switched faucet setup is not self-priming and has no lift capability, at least according to Jabsco. It must be used in a "flooded suction" position (below the water supply level), according to them. If you can do that, great.

Their 1GPM ParMax 1 has a lift of 4 feet, our 1.9 a lift of about 8 feet, so you can install them above the water supply. The ParMax and larger pumps can be used with the collapsible jugs as well.
