The River had beautiful views like this for three days - we capped off the trip with a midnight cruise back to Coeymans under the moon and a glassy river - the pictures were all black though.

I grew up not far from Kingston - my Dad always had a ski boat. We used to launch the boat either in the Esopus Creek (near the Kingston lighthouse) or at a town park that was virtually underneath the Kingston bridge. I wouldn't care to count how many times I've waterskiied around that area

Thanks for the reminders of how nice that area can be! (It can also be a real rough area in a storm or a lot of traffic, though!)

Hi Catigale,
I enjoyed your photos of your Labor Day trip down the Hudson River. I am happy to read how much you enjoyed the trip and the Kingston area.
Being born and raised in Kingston it makes me feel proud knowing some people enjoyed this little colonial city that was NY first capital as well as where our first Cont. Congress was seated back in the 1700's. There is a heck of a lot of history there within the city walls.
My family has lived there starting from the 1700's and our home was burned when the Brits lit the town up in the war.
The Hudson River, and I am sure you will agree, is one of the nicest and prettiest rivers in the US and maybe the world. What other rive will show you mansions, castles and such.
I live in Orange County now, in Middletown and enjoy the river more now that ever. I love to go over to West Point , the Trophy Point area , play my bagpipes while looking at the river. Bannermans Castle and Island is a nice short sail away. To look and visit the old lighthouses up and down the Hudson River is a fantastic outing and sail.
We here in New York have a perfect gift in sailing and motor boating as well as general recreation. We have our river and all of it's fantastic history, our northern lakes, our Finger Lake area, our Western Lakes and our own almost second Great Lake ...Lake Champlain , with it's 100 miles of shoreline .
Yes, we New Yorkers are a lucky lot, we even have our slice of the Atlantic Ocean. New York State is more than a city, it's a big fantastic State.
