help on the search engine
I need some help. I have used the search engine on this sight and it will come back with a lot of files but I don"t see any way to get to them. After the search it takes me back to the opening page. How do I get to the search items?? Ive been trying to find out the size of the jib for a 1998 26x? Help

The search engine is fairly basic, if you disregard the author options and everything below, you type in some "key" words, words that someone else might have used to describe the information you are seeking, and that is key, you are looking for words that they used.
Then you have the choice of seeing all posts where any of the words were used or all posts where all of words were used in the individual post. You will learn from trial and error that the second option of searching for all of the terms will usually give you the best results.
Next you have a list of postings to read through. To limit the reading, choose your key words carefully. I found when I was first searching, that I read the posts to see how people wrote and choose their words. After a while I found I could add the third or fourth key word to screen out posts that I wasn't interested in and do not forget that enclosing words in quotes will mean that the exact phrase is to be searched for.
for example, jib size would get a post that included what size sail bag was needed to hold the jib but "jib size" would require that the author wrote those two words together in that order.
The other options can be played with but I have never found a real need. What I suggest you do is find a post that sort of is what you want and look for some key words slightly different than what you used and try them. It is sort of like learning to tack - no amount of explaining makes up for trial and error till you learn.
Good luck and happy hunting.

tangent's correct. Searching is a fine art.
As for the jib, there's an easier solution.
Just look it up on Herm Wadler's Mac page.

Maybe this is too obvious, but when you get the search result list, you need to click on the title in "Topic" column to see the thread. If you click in the first "Forum" column it takes you to the main forum page.
I've done this myself more than once by just not thinking what I'm doing
HTH - cheers, Rick
