26S things/FYI
I noticed that there weren't many mods for the 26s so I posted several. Plan on posting some more. If there are any questions or comments feel free to e-mail (be sure to put something in the subject line like "26 mod") or PM. Don't hesitate to post comments here either!!

Re: 26S things/FYI
Nice work on all the mods. I like the one with the opening into the V-Berth from the front as I hadn't seen that done before.

Re: 26S things/FYI
I bought a 92 26S at the end of this past summer, my first boat. Thanks for posting your mod pics, gets you thinking of all the possibilities!

Re: 26S things/FYI
I know this is long after the initial post. I haven't been frequenting this site very much lately. But I like the effort to post more 26S or D mods, so I put more of mine up. The only thing I'm not to crazy about is that we are limited to only three pictures. Thanks Mike for trying to get some momentum going here!

Re: 26S things/FYI
I like the mods everyone has posted. Good for ideas on what to do next. I will be posting some of mine bottom job, Rudder like everyone does, Tiller pilot, traveler, Asym spinnaker.

Re: 26S things/FYI
There's a pretty nice list of 26S mods now! Let's keep it going! This site has been sorely lacking in the older Mac department. If any of you have mods to post, please do! And don't forget about the 26D's, basically 26C's!
This is a Macgregor board, get some Venture mods posted too, how about the 25's.
Let's keep up the momentum, this can be a great source of ideas for us all!
How can we get an icon for the 26C's

Re: 26S things/FYI
I agree Doug91mac26s. I have some more that I will document and post, nothing special just may give someone some ideas.
I know I look at these for ideas. the smartest one I have seen in a long time is the one piece rope for the traveler. Thanks Doug91mac26s!

Re: 26S things/FYI
Thanks Grady! Yes, please post all the mods you can! I really love looking at the mods others have done, I get a lot of ideas that way. Looks like your traveler setup is similar to mine. Is it a continuous loop too?
Re: 26S things/FYI
OK getting an itch to do another mod, even tho it is a 100 deg. outside. I am going to try to get it done by July 18 since I have entered Dallas race week. I think it will help with the efficiency of my spinnaker.

take a look and see if you think I have missed something.
It will be used to fly a Doyle APC asymmetrical spinnaker.

26D maintainence
we work on several things at once. Just depends on the time available and what I feel like doing...
Just finished putting Sikkens Cetol on the Tiller....
I doubt that the tiller has had any varnish or protection added since 1987 or so... ie, when it was made. 22+ years and it showed....
- I sanded the "grunge" off with 80 grit and a variable speed, orbital (Dewalt) sander.
- Then Sanded with 220 grit to smooth and get the dented places sanded...
- Then a washing and teak cleaner (west marine.... just what I had...)
- Last washing - and then let dry.
3 coats of Cetol -one each day.... and it looks better than new...
If you think about it - this is a 22 year old 26D - and parts clean up as good as new (they aren't.... I know...). I find that pretty amazing.....
Mods took a little time each evening.... and then done...
**********
Doing the same thing to the mast crutch now... it looks good, too...
********************
these were simple things I could do at night - with a 0.49 brush, a little bit of Cetol, and they did not take much time. Wasn't a mod... but I enjoyed it!!!!
