Thanksgiving

Post by Bill at BOATS 4 SAIL »

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
This year, instead of Turkey, we had Flamingle. A local farmer crossbreeds Flamingos and Bald Eagles, which are not really bald, but have white feathers on their head, which makes them appear bald at a distance.
Some of the Flamingles are white, and interestingly, some of them have a bluish tint to their feathers. I would think they would have more of a pinkish tint.
I think the white ones are tastier. My wife prefers the blue ones.

'TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING, BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED THINKING SAILING OUT IN THE DEEP.
THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED - THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT
TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.
SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.
I GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES,
PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.
I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.
I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY
WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE.
BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES....
HAPPY EATING TO ALL; PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE.
MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY, MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP.
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS, MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS.
IF YOU LIVE DOWN IN THE SOUTH WHERE IT IS NICE AND WARM
MAY YOU BE OUT ON YOUR MACGREGOR WITH YOUR SAILS IN GOOD FORM
IF YOU LIVE WAY UP NORTH WHERE IT IS ICY AND COLD
MAY YOU HAVE YOUR BOAT WINTERIZED AND DREAM OF TALES YET TO BE TOLD
HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!

peacocks

Post by Rolf »

Friend of mine shot and ate a peacock once (They roam free in certain high end neighborhoods here in LA, are both loved and hated for their noise) Said it tasted like pheasant. What's a Pheasant?

A pheasant is almost identical to a flamingle except it is smaller, more colorful, migrates, flies at lower altitudes, can't be housebroken, and tastes more like peacock.

Come to Cape Cod and try the Piping Plovers...they taste like chicken...

The Feds have done a nice job fencing them into little 20x20 cages on the beach - just remember to make sure no one is in the line of fire of your Mac-10 when you hunt

Blue bunting piping plovers fly faster than white ones btw.

I think Piping Plovers taste more like Hummingbird than chicken, except for the Rhode Island Blues, of course.
