Yasser-

(Assuming this isn't a troll question)... That's an original question that we've NEVER heard here before!! :D

From your observations, I'll bet you will be a happy future :macx: owner! Yes, the sink in the head is necessary... as a catch-all for all the small stuff that has no where else to be put!

Remember the primary factor when choosing a Mac...

As is the sink in the 'galley', in my case at least. The only times they've ever seen water since I got it is when I deliberately dumped Lysol in water down them when I was done with the interior cleaning and disinfecting, and that was only to kill some of the nasties living in the tubing. Other than that, they hold my car keys, cel phone, and wallet when I'm sailing. :D

I sleep in tbe v berth and i am happy its not really visible. with a curtain one could close off the entire forward part of the boat in case of visitors. So it works well for me.
I keep the aft bunk clear and usable as a respite fot the occasional guest. Or the dogs. I miss the idea of the head in the x as a wet locker for storing raingear and dirty clothes. At least thats what i would use it for.

what if the white boat has blue bottom paint?

yasrkasem wrote:Hi again, as i said, very informative.
the privacy in the M model for the V berth is great if the bed size is fine for 2 adults which i doubt also the head size is so small comparing to the X model and without sink and noway to have shower inside it, or this what i understand from what i was reading here and there.
the traveler in the M can be easy moded to the X as i read when the cockpit is larger in the X.

here is another 2 queries:

Is it possible to find the measurements of the cabin of both model somewhere (V berth, Salon chairs, Table, Aft berth, etc), second thing is i'm located in UAE, Dubai where the boat prices are way far from the US or Europe prices, so, if i wanna send a Mac from US to UAE is there any way to know the shipping cost? shipping company? any hint will be huge help in my way to own a boat.

pleased to all replies, thanks all

Yasser
The X and M both fit on their trailer in a standard high-cube FEU (forty-foot equivalent unit) shipping container, so your best bet will be to have someone in Long Beach (near the Costa Mesa factory) containerize and secure a boat inside the container and then ship it via standard roll-on/roll-off cargo. Going this way from Port of Los Angeles to Port of Dubai will cost between US$3500 and US$4000, excluding customs.

The problem you'll have is getting someone to do it for you. You might be hard pressed to find a used seller willing to ship to a foreign port without full payment in advance, so you'd have to setup some sort of escrow account to satisfy everyone.

If you want to buy new, Sales at the Factory won't ship to destinations where there's a MacGregor dealership territory if I'm not mistaken, although you can contact Mike Inmon directly to determine whether or not they are capable of shipping to you. Also you can only buy the M model from the factory.

I really enjoy sleeping in the M's V Berth and I am 5 ten , the admiral is shorter and also fits in well . The curtains allow privacy and when open maintains the view from cockpit to forward hatch. Image
I use the head in the M as a storage locker for the fenders and life jackets and extra lines.
I think that the boat you like is the boat you have. The X vs. M thing is a question of personnal perspective and taste that boils down to cockpit size in the X and head space in the rear berth for the M. Image

For the price I can't complain about my M (and the traveller was included :D :D ).

Just got off both boats. :macx: & an :macm:

Our impression, we liked the :macx: better.

If you have strong following seas, advantage :macm:

If you want a second protection from following seas inside the cockpit, advantage :macm:

If you are practicing for poll vaulting, or high jumping, getting into and out of the cabin, advantage :macm:

If you are in a hurry under sail, advantage :macm:

If you want two rows of port and starboard windows in the cabin, advantage :macm:

If you want a new boat, advantage :macm:

If you want a blue factory hull, advantage :macm:

If you want the feeling of a bow private area, advantage :macm:

If you want a traveler rail by the cabin entrance, advantage :macm:

If you want a two foot taller mast, advantage :macm:

If you want carpet glued to the inside of the lower half of the cabin, advantage :macm:

If you want a higher helm seat, that is more or less over the engine, as opposed to more or less in front of the engine, advantage :macm:

If you want half as many boats in the used marketplace to choose from, advantage :macm:

If you want no sink in the bathroom, advantage :macm:

If you want a galley that moves on a track along the port cabin seats, advantage :macm:

If you want a smaller cockpit, advantage :macm:

If you want a larger cabin, including a little more headroom everywhere including the stern bunk, advantage :macm:

A boat is not something you can just read about. It is something you must expirence. First hand.

I believe there's a Mac dealership in Dubai, I think you're better off buying a new M than going through all that shipping & customs nonsense and besides that you should NEVER buy a boat without actually seeing it in person or even better sailing it to. And then there's the trailer issue with standards and regulations which vary from country to country around the world... another pain in the ass if you don't buy from a local Mac dealership. BTW: how much is the cost of a Gallon of gasoline in the UAE ? Just curious.

Both rooms are about the same size, but the way you can use them, is different. If you are working with the door open on each, with your feet on the outside of the head, the :macx: is one third larger give or take. Maybe 50% larger. Mind you, I have come to that opinion by just looking at the rooms, not by having used them.

My camper also has a small restroom. Ultra tiny, for a large RV. I hate that about it. This is why I am not going to make that purchase decision again, not knowing what I am getting into, or maybe I should say, not being able to get into. lol

I do have one advantage over all of you. When space gets cramped, and it is lights out time, I pull a leg off. Instant 4' 7"! lol Lost a leg in a train accident in 1968.

The leg has never been a handicap. The weight is a handicap. Wish I could loose that.
