Yes, as I recall, it has to be exposed to air - otherwise I'd slap in on my boat bottom.
OTOH, it might do well topside.

Exposed to air in order to dry. After that it might be ok.
I wonder how well it stands up and what's with the two part thing? Marine growth may not be able to stick to it as well. Rudders could be a safe first test.

If I remember correctly, the first part is the nano particles that actually cause the hydrophobia, and the second part is just a hard polymer that keeps them in place. They won't spray evenly if pre-mixed. But I'm going by memory from reading their patent application.Crikey wrote:Exposed to air in order to dry. After that it might be ok.

If you give your boat hydrophobia, does it have to get a series of injections so it won't go mad

Dude, it has to be in air most of the time - so forget about using it on the lower hull. Now the hull areas not normally covered in water - THAT's a possibility.

So if you heeled, that's when you get slippy?
Can anyone post a link with the technical stuff?

Re: Its Now for SALE..
The only point to putting it on the hull is to keep off stains and stuff.
If your boat got hydrophobia (became scared of the water) then I suspect you could get it therapy - I don't think you would need shots - (too drastic).
It was foggy and wet this past Saturday and when I was rigging the boat getting ready to launch I slipped and fell down on the deck THREE TIMES!
How much more slippery do I really need it to be?

Re: Its Now for SALE..
I am not finding where it has to be exposed to air to work..PLease Help..
My issue all along with this product being used to make boats go faster is... If it was possible the Mega Yachts would have been using it for years.. Its seems to me that cost $$$ is no object to them.. My thought runs more along the lines of Trailers in Salt Water.. Maybe SS pieces on our boats.. Outdoor Cushions? Issue seems to be a white film on hard finishes.. from pictures I see much of that issue is , inability to spray the product evenly .. that appears to be the person applying not the product.. IT NEVER ceases to amaze me how TOTALLY inept some people are ..

Re: Its Now for SALE..
Okay, this has really gone far enough.
The wax will NOT make the boat go faster.
In fact, the laminar viscosity is INCREASED by the beading action of slippery surface applicants like wax and stuff. In other words: it makes the boat "sticky". Water tension at the leading edge of the hull where you break the water is INCREASED by those beads of water that are sticking to the front of the boat. That's why in the Americas Cup races all the crews WET SAND the hull before the race, not WAX the hull.
The idea is to make the water stream like it does on an unwaxed car, not bead.
It's all very stupid because the difference is less than .0001 per knot.
I remember having these arguments around the campfires in Mexico when we sailed with large groups of people from all over the country in the Sea of Cortez - everyone had a different opinion.
If you talk to the wax companies and ask them, what do you think they are gonna say?
The bottom line is that you SHOULD wax your boat even if it slows it down .0001 of a knot because you need to protect the hull from the sun.
