Ordered my new Jib today

Post by sunshinecoasting »

Placed the order with Rob at Evolution sails today, http://www.evolutionsails.com/
Furling Jib was $616 delivered from Gold Coast and will take about three weeks to make. Has any one used Evolution here? They look like nice sails. I guess i will find out soon.

Cheers, Dennis.

Hi Dennis.

Yeah I'v had work done with them a coupla times. I had a UV strip sewn on my Jib ( I hope you ordered one with your sail) and I had a clew ring sewn back in that blew out early this year.

They seem like good guys there and they have a good name. I believe they made, or maybe still do, the Mac sails for Bluereef yachts, the Gold Coast Mac dealer.

No I didnt bother with a UV strip, I have a sunbrella slip on cover for the Jib when it is not being used and the boat is always under cover when stored so the only time my Jib is exposed to the sun is when I am sailing. Rob rang me yesterday and said it was completed and on its way to me by post, that was quick work but as he pointed out, a 100% Jib for our boats is a small sail by comparison to most keel boats. I will let you know what it is like once I get it and mount it on the furler. Cheers, Dennis.

Mine was at the Marina for a year up there with a Jib Sock on it (although the sock was a few feet short). The first foot of my sail was falling apart when I got the boat which is why I did the UV strip. In your situation though, like you say, you don't need it. You could always add one later if needed.

Yeah, I reckon I'd like a Genny, but then I'm not into sailing for speed, so I'd rather the ability to point a bit better with my Jib I think.
