Looking at a 2005 E-tec 90 HP, 20" shaft at auction on e-Bay. Have Johnson controls for 96' 2 Stoke which seller claims will be compatible? Claims motor was replaced by E-tec dealer for a 115 HP E-tec and used motor only has 245 hours on motor. Been check out by E-tec dealer and computer print out to accompany purchase.
Questions:
1. Is the 90 HP usable on our Mac's?
2. Is seller right about control being compatible?
3. Does anyone have experience with a 90 HP on their boat?

I have little expertise re: 90 HP, but a 20" shaft seems a tad short. My 97X needs a long shaft (Merc)

My mac loves my etec ,20" shaft ,there is a adapter plug so I have been told but I would think you could buy a set of controls off eBay cheap ,the factory tack has the warning lights

Re: Problem with E-tec 90 HP installation on 96'Mac26X?
I think if you intend to cruise the boat long term or longer weekend trips the 60 is best .it is much better on fuel and when we cruise the boat for a week or so at a pop it is very heavy and heavily loaded .for over night and day trips the 90 is great .if you do not wanna plane alot I would not the 90 ......it is a great engine and i love it but most of the time we are cruising around hull speed now .
