MAC 25 refurbish

Post by khenault »

A friend of mine had a 1983 :macm: 25 under a tarp in his backyard for 3 years. He told me I could have it if I'd haul it away. He also sold me the Nissan 9.8 4-stroke for $300. It was an offer I couldn't refuse.

Here's the work I've done over the last 3 weeks:
• Clean black scum inside and out
• Flush and clean bilge
• Repair Keel Lock Bolt fiberglass damage (thanks for the tips)
• Repair Fiberglass for Mast Step
• Repair fiberglass companionway hatch cover
• Refinished teak tiller handle
• New line for Tiller Tamer
• New keel winch cable
• New keel cable bolt
• New battery support bracket
• New battery
• Ripped out and replaced entire electrical system
• Installed new electrical panel
• Installed battery cut off switch
• Replaced bilge pump with an automatic pump
• Replaced cockpit drain scupper and hose
• Replaced every running light with LED lights
• Replaced snaps for pop top canvas with stainless steel snaps
• Fabricated pop top support tubes
• Replaced keel swing bolt and seals
• Replaced keel lock bolt and seals
• Replaced plywood support for winch under companionway
• Replaced spreader caps
• Reran 2nd halyard for jib
• Added boom topping lift
• Patched mainsail luff tear (needs a new main)
• Replaced cam cleat on main sheet
• Nylon nutserts for interior panels
• Replace engine cover gasket
• Replace electric cable to engine
• Repair engine neutral safety switch

Next major projects are scraping and painting the hull, and getting rusted sections of the trailer replaced.

I think I've covered just about everything. It will likely be a couple of weeks before I can get her in the water. Anything else I should look at?

Hi,
I think my boat is the same vintage as yours but not yet in running condition. Do you have any pictures? I will need to make some of the repairs that you made already.
