What did you pay for your Mac?
I wonder if forum members would be willing to share their boat purchase info, so that we can build a record of what's going on over time. Would anyone be willing to share some or all of the following? Copy, paste and fill in the details on YOUR boat:

Improvements/mods:
I'll start:
Boat type and year: 2002 26X
Year bought: 2009
Asking price and price paid: $22,500cdn/$21,000cdn
Motor: Honda BF50A
Options included: full enclosure, jib and genoa, MRS, cushions, porta potty, original single axle trailer.
Repairs required: Big hole in the fiberglass coachroof side from a close encounter with an anchor on a bow roller on another boat.
How did you meet your boat: I received a mailing from Dowsar Yacht Sales with two flyers for two Mac 26Xs. When I saw the flyer on mine, I said "Oh, theres my boat". I drove to Hamilton from Montreal that weekend, checked out the new 26M in the showroom, and happily took my 26X home. I still have no idea where Dowsar got my info.
Improvements: too many to list. 90HP Etec, flushing electric Jabsco toilet with holding and pumpout, complete rewire using heavy gauge marine grade wire, charger, usb ports, solar and acr, soon to be autopilot, 2.3HP kicker, new cushions, complete bottom job with barrier coat and antifouling, new main, new jib, V-berth extension, insulating and fiberglassing the icebox, major mold battles, pressure water system, sailcover, halyard and downhaul led aft, Mantus main and lunch anchors, fuel locker covers, new standing rigging, new running rigging, continuous rainwater leak sealing etc.....much more $ than I paid for the boat.

Re: What did you pay for your Mac?
I'll semi-reluctantly play along... my experiences here probably aren't normal...
Boat type and year:1987 26D
Year bought: 2005
Asking price and price paid: my dad and uncle gifted it to my brother and myself. I had to buy a bigger truck and drive from PA to Kansas to meet the lowboy truck that brought the boat from Southern California. My dad's friend owned a huge dairy farm in CA and was buying a front loader in Kansas, so at no cost, he sent the boat on his truck to the heavy equipment dealer where we unloaded and towed home to PA. My brother has since moved to Kansas so it's mine now
Motor: 1998 Nissan NSF5A
Options included: great condition main and 87/109/150 headsails, cockpit cushions, tired out cabin cushions, 2 Danforth anchors with 30'chain and 100' 3 stand nylon rode, 6 or 8 life jackets, binoculars, vhf, bins of assorted SS fasteners/ rigging fittings/spares, self tailing winches, extra genoa and jib tracks with extra standing blocks. Plus, dad flew out to PA for a weekend to show us how to rig and sail the boat!
Repairs required: lots of cleaning and rebed deck hardware and windows to stop leaks. Many other repairs have been done over the years but starting out, we did bare minimum.
How did you meet your boat: my first time meeting 3 Hour Tour was in 1999 after I graduated high school. I flew to CA to visit my dad and grandparents. Dad and Uncle Randy took me for a weekend sail trip where we sailed and fished for two days in the pacific, including an overnight stay at a marina in Long Beach
Photo:

Improvements/mods: SO MANY! Rebedded/ sealed all deck penetrations, new windows, new 2015 tohatsu sailpro 6hp, tiller pilot, cruising spinnaker, Plastimo compass, rebuilt/upgraded motor well trim, Garmin gps/fishfinder, stereo, replaced galley mirror and plywood, straightened slightly bent mast, new running and standing rigging, modded rudder by angling it forward, LED bulbs, rebuilt 2010 26M aluminum trailer, there's certainly more but I'll move on to BOAT 2
Boat type and year: 1998 26X
Year bought: 2020
Asking price and price paid: $4,000 obo - I didn't need to offer less. During initial messaging back and forth he dropped price to $3,000 if purchased that week
Motor: 1998 Honda BF50A
Options included: roller furling 150 genoa, main with worn out lazy jacks, hank on jib new in bag, porta potty, 10 lb Danforth anchor w/ 8' chain and 75' nylon rode, brand new Fortress FX7 anchor, assorted extra lines, 2 almost new deep cycle batteries, cockpit and cabin cushions, vhf, stereo, LED bulbs, stern arch, oversize steering wheel, original steel trailer with new tires
Repairs required: reattach all wires to fuse panel, clean and wax, sew new leech line in genoa
How did you meet your boat: saw an improperly labeled ad on macgregor Facebook group and messaged seller immediately. Had a plan to pick up in Long Island, NYC later that week. In the way to NYC from Erie, PA, I picked up a friend/ fellow mac owner (he has aVenture beach cat) in SW New York state and showed up with tools including a welder for if the trailer needed love and extra trailer wheel bearings, spare tires, and new led lights that we had to install to get the lights going. The trailer made the trip no problem!
Improvements/mods: added garmin chartplotter and cleaned but will reseal deck hardware and replace windows this season.
As I found it in the boat yard

Re: What did you pay for your Mac?
2002 26X
purchased 2014
$11,000 US including original functioning Honda BF50, trailer, genoa and unused jib, porta potty, alcohol stove. Ebay (third time listed, prior purchasers failed to follow through, thus the low price.) Had to drive from mid-west to east coast, visited my daughter at college, she accompanied me to pick up the boat, drove it home in the snow. No repairs required. I sailed it for a year without doing any upgrades.

Later upgrades include:
Move to PNW (now lives full-time in a salt-water slip), Suzuki DF60A, BWY full enclosure, Wallas diesel stove/heater, dinghy and kicker, electrical (rewired entire boat, added shorepower, 600 AH batteries, 50A charger, inverter, Honda generator, efoy, solar panels), plumbing (two water inlets, two potable water tanks, UV water filter, 12v hot water heater, shower sump, natures head), Raymarine wheel pilot, MFD, radar, depth sounder, upgraded steering cable, ablative bottom paint every other year, Mantus 35 anchor/roller/30 ft chain & 300 ft rode, preventers, lazy jacks, all lines aft, single line reefing, two 17 gallon aluminum fuel tanks w/ locker covers, new standing rigging w/ upgraded headstay, custom boat cover, new dual axle trailer, etc. I use the boat very frequently year-round.

Boat type and year: 2002 26X
Year bought: 2021
Asking price and price paid: $20k/$18.5K
Motor: 2020 Tohatsu MS50A
Options included: MRS, cushions, roller furling, porta potty, fish finder, shore power, TV, microwave.
Repairs required: Not sure if it would be considered a repair but I replaced the jib, which had massive holes from sitting outside. Still giving it some more time to see if the roller furling luff straightens out completely, though it is functional.
How did you meet your boat: Drove 500 miles from Santa Rosa, CA to Oceanside, CA to purchase it after having watched Craigslist for years for the right one.
Improvements/mods: Nothing big so far. Added pelican hooks to lifelines, new halyards and dock lines and some other small stuff. I've bought everything for a complete rewire and adding an anchor light and second switch panel.
Trivia: I actually owned a 26X for about 4-5 years before getting rid of it about 15 years ago. I've wanted another one ever since and thought a LOT about other boat styles but nothing came close to what you can do with a 26X.

Re: What did you pay for your Mac?
Boat type and year: MacGregor 26M 2007
Year bought: 2007
Asking price and price paid: I think Bill was offering something like $1000 off full retail at the time. But then I loaded it up with most all Mac's and his options... I want to say it was near $23K.
Motor: 2008 Mercury four-stroke, BigFoot - because the factory suggested that and I had no knowledge beforehand. I think I was taken to the cleaners. I think it was near $6.5k installed with all the extra parts, tank and labor.
Options included: All Bill's great stuff, most all Mac's stuff. No electronics, no nothing.
Repairs required: None
How did you meet your boat: In frozen Wisconsin in winter at Bill's place. Freaked out seeing the fishing huts on the frozen ice. You northerners are made of stouter stuff or... masochists.

Re: What did you pay for your Mac?
For reference sake, I'll chip in on what a brand new 26X cost in 2002. Seattle Boat Show prices, through Blue Water Yachts:
Boat type and year: 26X, 2002 (last full production year for the 26X - a few more were made and sold in 2003, 1st year for the 26M)
Boat Show prices: base price, $15,990 - Included trailer/ladder, main and jib sails, railings/lifelines, cabin & running lights, wheel steering, interior cushions, winch handle, ice chest
Cruising package: boat show package price of $23,999 - included Nissan DFI 50 hp elect. start outboard, 9 gallon tank, power trim/tilt, BWY custom steering, second reefpoint, mainsail slides and sail stop, sail ties, wind indicator, mast raising system, surge trailer brakes, sailing instructions/manual, rigging/commissioning & personal instruction, porta-potti, spare parts kit, topping lift, head compartment light, alcohol stove, second battery, battery combiner, BWY custom swim ladder, trailer winch strap, trailer tie down strap, white gel coat touch up paste, lifeline gates in cockpit, freight from factory to Seattle.
Super Cruising Package:Boat Show Price $27,999 - Included all of the cruising package items plus: CDI: roller furler, 150% genoa, genoa sail cover, mainsail cover, halyards run aft,CD stereo system/speakers, mainsheet line bag, sunbrella galley and head organizers, single line reefing, custom outhaul control, dodger, boom vang, stainless pedestal guard, cockpit cushions, upgrade to butane stove, fuel tank locker covers, transom opening filler, custom striping, swim ladder handle, 12 volt plug, hand bearing compass w/bracket.
We ordered the super cruising package, along with upgrading to the Wallas stove, a pair of 12 gallon gas tanks and a few other items. Our total price came to right around $30,000. We feel we really got our money's worth and then some. In addition to acquiring a great boat, we made long term friends in Todd and Cheryl, who continue to support and service our boat.
How did we meet our boat: Drove pickup to their dealership on Lake Union, downtown Seattle, got instruction on rigging, hitched up, made a left turn on West Lake Blvd (terrified to have that big monster hitched to my truck) and headed for the I-90 freeway in downtown Seattle traffic.

Re: What did you pay for your Mac?
We bought Last Flight in 2006. She is a beautiful 2002 26X.
We had been looking for a year or two for a Macgregor. We had visited 26Ss, 26Ds, 26Xs and 26Ms . We liked the Xs and the Ms but didn't want to spend that money. We looked at a 26D at a Yacht Club in Columbia, S.C. Admiral did not like the low cabin. Two rows over sat a 26X all covered up with pine needles and leaves that looked like it had not been moved in years. I said that is what I really want. We found a 26X in Miami that had a bad trailer. We made an offer, it was accepted, we send earnest money, loaded up our van with trailer repair supplies and set off for Miami to get it. Along the way I called the 26D guy in Columbia and asked about the X there. He called back with a name and number. I called. Nice guy but not interesting in selling. He would meet us at the boat and talk. We met. Turns out he had bought her new and she was delivered to his lake on a Saturday. The delivery people took him out, motored around, and showed him how everything worked. Sunday he took some friends out, motored around and bragged. Tuesday he went to work and broke his back. He had not been back to see her in four years. This was the first time. He walked with a cane and could not get onboard even with a ladder. I went aboard. There was fiberglass dust everywhere on everything. The sails were in plastic bags. Most of the lines were in plastic bags. The winches were bagged and sealed. One fuel tank had a little, the other virgin. He had a four year old boat that was BRAND NEW. We talked, I asked, he said $16,000, I bit.
Engine: Honda BF50A
Came with all the standard stuff, plus a 105 genoa, roller furler, cushions, sailcovers, bimini, and a depth finder that would not turn on. I discarded it and bought another. It would not turn on either. Checking revealed that the electrical panel was wired backwards, +12VDC to the ground bar.
Added: A big Bruce anchor, a big CQR anchor, a Danforth anchor, two solar panels, two big AGM batteries, an EdgeStar electric refrigrator/freezer, pressure water, VHF radio, GPS, autopilot, and two inverters.
Most of our trips were long, two weeks to five months. There are no local sailing waters in eastern Kentucky. Unfortunately, for sailing, eight years ago we inherited two great-grand children from their druggie parents. Their schedules and our sailing don't match up. Last Flight has sat in the barn since.
