Motor disconnecting
In the absence of having the bwy setup, does anyone have any simple ways the secure the engine from flopping when I disconnect it from the rudders ? I’m thinking two ropes to the cleats at the stern but they’re a high angle so I’m not sure it will work

Re: Motor disconnecting
Do you mean while underway/sailing? How do you disconnect it? The BWY setup has a pin that it connects to when not attached.
When I leave my boat, I leave it connect to steering and use the port jib sheet to tie off the wheel to keep the tilted motor from flopping.
Not sure if you can see from this screen cap of my boat cam, the jib sheet comes out of the cam cleat and to the wheel.

Re: Motor disconnecting
The BWY disconnect should have been standard on our boats. It's so easy to unhook and secure.
I've seen some folks fabricate similar. It's not that complicated.
How do you disconnect it now? Perhaps install a similar "center" pole to attach it to as the BWY system uses.
