Georgia DOT Planned Closure of the ICW for upwards of SEVEN Weeks

Post by OverEasy »

Hi all the Georgia DOT is making announcements that they will be closing a portion of the ICW to accomplish the demolition of a bridge for upwards of SEVEN weeks from 7AM TO 7PM.

Hope this isn’t affecting anyone’s travel plans.
No mention of when or duration of future closures for replacement bridge construction as yet but it generally takes longer to build something than to tear something down… and cost a whole lot more!

The scuttlebutt is the bridge was compromised by multiple years (decades?) of
deferred maintenance
and had become a safety risk hazard to road as well as ICW traffic and was beyond repair. Fortunately Georgia received desperately need fund through the recently approved Infrastructure Bill and can now finally get on with its replacement before it became a much greater problem rather than an inconvenience….

Best Regards
