Heath or any one that knows.
A. How do I reduce a picture to be accepted as an avatar?
B. How do I publish, or attach a picture to a post?

The simplest method using software that comes with Windows is to open the picture in Paint, which is usally in your accessories folder.

Load the picture, then select from the menu bar, image.

Next select stretch/skew.

Adjust horizontal and vertical size to some percentage of the original. Do it evenly so the picture does not distort.

The width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB.

You can check the result by selecting attributes from the image menu.

Finally do a save as and select jpg as the file format. That usually will give you a picture that takes up the least disk space.

Anybody know how to set a stabil preference on this board to show the newest postings first? I can click that choice at the bottom of a thread but it needs to be clicked again every time I come back to the site.

I have noticed that some avatars have a text line (i.e.) Captain, Admiral, deckhand etc. How do I add text to my avatar?

Jack,
First, be sure that you remain signed-on each time you visit. A check-box at bottom of the sign-on screen can enable this. Then, each time you visit the main forum page, look for the tiny text line at top-right above the forum header bar. It reads something to the effect:
"View all posts since my last visit"

Voila!
