Fuel Tanks, Mast holder

Post by Hurley »

Can anybody help with these topics.........

1. The size and capacity of the fuel tanks suitable for a 05 26M.

2. Trying to understand why the tubes that make up the mastholder on the stern have such a lage difference in size i.e the top ss tube is so much smaller than the tube fixed to the boat. I would imagine once motoring it would make one helava rattle.

Thanks in anticipation

Hurley,

Yin Yang has two 12 gal tanks (Tempo) which the boat was designed for. Several skippers on the site have opted to install two, three, or four 6 gal tanks to make refueling easier and/or to provide additional room to store items in the cockpit.

I like to have the range, so the 24 gals works well for me.

As for the mast support, I just shimmed mine to eliminate that incredible gap. I used 1/16" ss shim. Cut them out, bent them to match the 1" od for the tube and then bolted. Very snug. I'll email you some images of the stern rails and cross rail I just installed to tighten up the stern and close in the cockpit. I have a mod under m bimini in the mod section, but was unable to post the pics.

Hey Hurley. Hope that shiney new M is going well. Lots to do in preparation for this summer - that would be everyday in Queensland right ?

I made a few mods to my 26M in the cockpit. You can find them in the Mac Mods page under the Cockpit category, author Craig Garlick, posting dates Jan 15 2005 and Mar 21 of 2005.

Cheers
Craig
