Good Books on 12-volts
I recently bought , Sailboat Electrics Simplified by Don Casey
Some or much of what you will find you may well know but it helps to refresh or remind you of a lot of facts / known values . A few tricks are given as well for when you need something to work but don't have all the parts to repair it properly. Includes a ton of drawing's .
I also bought John S. Burnett's book . . .Dangerous Waters / Modern Piracy and Terror on the High Seas
I had received a couple of gift certificates at Christmas for book stores and found lots of stuff to buy some for fun some for knowledge .

I did a search for the Author and found he had several books out that looked interesting.
On a side bar who is using Battery Combiners and what size are you using . . ? I was thinking the 50 amp ??

Re: Yes Mark
It depends upon the size and number of batteries being charged through the combiner and their state of charge and acceptance rate. For flooded cell batteries, that's said to be at most 25%, or 50 amps for two 100 amp-hour batteries in parallel. Of course, there would have to be a 50 amp charger on the other side of the combiner to supply it for those batteries to draw that.Divecoz wrote: On a side bar who is using Battery Combiners and what size are you using . . ? 50 amp is more than enough for the 20A your BigFoot can put out. And even if you add a 50 amp charger, if there's only one 100 AH house battery on the other side, about the most it will draw through the combiner is 25A.
I read this book a few months ago and it was a real eye opener. Surprising what has happened on the high sea's since WWII and you never hear much about it.Divecoz wrote:I also bought John S. Burnett's book . . .Dangerous Waters / Modern Piracy and Terror on the High Seas
Another good read is "Looking for a ship" by John A. McPhee.
Author covers the US Merchant Marine decline by tagging along with a MM as he gets a job and works on a cargo ship.
