Know this yacht??

Post by Balu »

Anybody know of a small yacht(about 22-24 ft ) that does not have a mast or boom but only a roller furler with the sail extending to the cockpit.
Saw one at the London boat show but can't find the brochure I picked up.
The roller furling seemed to be self standing???? It seemed to be a great concept.

Try a google search under Catboat or Cat Boat.

It sounds like it might be that type of design.

Found the site of the mastless, boomless yacht.
http://www.ocqueteau.com/site/cadre.asp
look at VOILIER

The "mast" is made from carbon fibre and is unstayed. It has twin keels and rudders.

Doen't come cheap.19995 with 9.9hp motor.

OK, I'll bite. How the heck does the furler stand up like that unsupported?

Thanks for finding the link Balu. It's hard to imagine without a picture- it kinda looks like an optical illusion- like someone seeing a plaining sailboat for the first time! :D
