I have been working hard the last few weeks getting the boat ready for our first overnighter in a marina (Waterside Marina, Norfolk VA). I installed shore power.
When it looked like the weather was going to be hot I decided to install an air conditioner in the boat. I think I have a good install and will post a mod later.
So yesterday morning (July 4) we load up and get ready to go. I start the motor, am distracted for a moment, and look back at the engine and see no cooling water coming out the "pee hole". The engine ran for perhaps a minute (maybe less) before I shut it off. I stuck an awl tip in the hole to clear any wasp nest that might be in there. Still no water flow when I started up.
It was 95 degrees outside so I wasn't going to work on it then. So that killed the trip and we unloaded the boat.
Today (82 degrees) I hooked up the elephant ears, started the motor and had water flow out the pee hole. So we took the boat out for about 10 minutes and had water flowing out the pee hole. However the water seemed to flow less-strong than I recall it had before. I hope I havent damaged the water pump.
I always flush the motor with fresh water after every use.
Has anyone experienced a gremlin like this?

Sure. And you're in salt water. On my Yamaha I take the cowling off, and trace the rubber tube back to a brass fitting on the block. Remove the rubber tube (that leads to the pee hole) and jam a thin strong wire into the fitting. That's where it jams up on me.
Crusty salt. And I 'wash' the thing always with a garden hose that plugs into the system as well as 'ear muffs' that flow throughout.
