tried searching for the best product to use to seal the rubber rail. I know Iv seen posts on this before but have been unable to locate. Any direction would be appreciated.

I'd use black 3M 5200 to seal the Rub Rail.

4200 would also work, but 5200 has twice as much strength and after all, you're not planning to take that rail off anytime soon, are you? :)

If you're gonna do the entire rail, save yourself some aggro and use the larger caulking-gun version:

Rub Rail

After reading some of the threads Kevin posted I thought I might add a preventative maintenance idea. I was using some Simonize Black shine on my car tires and after reading what it does in terms of UV protection & rot I decided to do my whole rub rail with it every year. It may not prevent storm or crash damage but it sure keeps the rub rail shiny and new. 8)
