I recently installed sail slugs along the luff of my mainsail, and have
8 or so left over and was wondering whether there would be any
drawbacks to installing them also along the foot, making it easier
to install/remove the mainsail onto/off from the boom.
Has anyone done that, or seen it done? Any drawbacks? Any other
benefits?
Sail slugs along foot of mainsail?

Sail Slugs
Why? Is yours hard to remove from the boom? Don't forget to keep a few slugs on board as replacements on the mast as they WILL break.

That's what I was thinking.Bawgy wrote:I have slugs on the boom . It works well when using the outhaul . It is easier to load the sail on the boom if removed after sailing.
I think I can live with thatOnly drawback is on light air days when the boat rocks from boat wakes , the slugs are noisy slapping back and forth in the boom
Thanks.

Good point. I should still have a couple left over after adding them to the boom, so I should be good.Don't forget to keep a few slugs on board as replacements on the mast as they WILL break.
Thanks.
