Yesterday I went to take my 96X out of a central Florida lake to move to Gulf side of Florida when the tongue portion of the trailer nearly broke in two as I was pulling up the ramp. Managed to ease the trailer back into the water and ease the boat off...but now am faced with trying to either get the 11yr old trailer sufficiently repaired to make the 90 mile trip or get a new trailer. or borrow one. Since it is Sunday and cant' reach Costa Mesa I thought i'd ask the community...
Does the 26M trailer sufficiently fit the 26X to tow it.
What's the retail value of one.
Finally, is there a Mac 26X wet slip owner within 100 miles of Orlando that would consider renting me their trailer just so I can get my boat to Tarpon Springs. Once there I can take 6 months to locate, build or buy another trailer.

Failed trailer tongue
I had the same problem last month--the tongue failed.
A trailer repair shop replaced the tongue with a much stronger steel tube.
My boat and trailer are located in Spring Hill, 30 miles from you. If you would like to see how I fixed the tongue, let me know. You could take a look at it.
I sent you a PM. Please check your messages.

Had the same problem
I also had a '96X trailer do the same thing to me this summer.
Fortunately it was at the Marina and not on the road. I ended up replacing the entire trailer as I was worried about the rest of trailer especially the axle failing. I looked at the new M stainless trailers and although they were only about $2K they needed to be modified for the X and were as marginal as the original trailer in terms of design. I bought a trailer from Pacific trailers that specializes in salt water trailers. The trailer is hot dipped galavanized (even on the inside) and should last a long time. This trailer desig is well thought out and definately more ruggid. I looked at stainless steel trailers but couldn't find a local manufacturer. There was one in Florida but the shipping to California would have made it way too expensive. Good luck and I wish I was closer to be of more help.

Same thing happened to me. Once the rust gets in it's over. Glad to hear most of the failures did not cause injury. Mine also happened as I was pulling the boat out.
I wouldn't bother with repair. I did and it failed again in a different spot.
I'd either borrow one to get you where you need to go or buy a new one.
Good luck

Mine's too scary to go that far, and no brakes either.
Yours is probably fixable to get by till you replace it.
I ordered a replacement, a single axle Road King with 15" wheels instead of 14".
Just galvanized though, but for me that's ok. About $3K. Won't be here till middle of Dec though.
Mine's always been a weak link. Salt water eats them like candy.

When I checked on the Mac trailer the issue was (as previously mentioned) shipping cost. Unless a dealer can piggyback on an order it costs $$$ to ship from CA. And I didn't like the plastic wheel wells. There are at least 4 trailer mfgrs in the area, Road King has a Florida factory and has a model for the 26X i could have had in a week but the 15" wheels cost me another week.
Float-On (Vero Bch) only sells a alum tandem. Magic Tilt (Tampa) also makes an alum tandem, and Performance traliers didn't answer emails. Just find a local dealer for prices.
