Re: 71' Venture 222 Interior

Thanks Freedon77, here are some photos of work completed today. A before and after shot. It really took a lot of work to get to today. First coat of primer on 1/2 of interior. Re: First day on the Mac

Must have been nice out on the water. Glad someone got out. I've got some more work to do before spring. We have had some good days to get out on the water here in Virginia. Mid-50's to Low 60's temp.

Re: 71' Venture 222 Interior

Here is the new battery base made out of 1" pine stair treads. (Moving batteries to under Vberth.) I painted undersides /sides and area of bilage that would not be accessible once I glassed then in. I have sanded all the way back to the cockpit and finally got all that carpet tape/glue off the ...

Re: Pop Top questions

Took a photo of some hardware that came with the boat. The SS bolts / worn out washers must go with the top. Rusty winch cover and handle to the two winches in the cockpit. Will replace them in the near future. http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/a636/SailingVirginia/OTHREE11-HP/DSC01824_zpsc8c85f1c...

Re: Pop Top questions

Sailing Virginia- There are six 1/4"SS machine screws holding my top down. They have wing nuts inside and three have large rubber washers under the top to space betwwen the top and the cabin roof. I'm going to find an old tire tube to cut out spacers for the other three screws and add a rubber...

Re: 71' Venture 222 Interior

HI Sailing Virginia, We also had a'71 V-222 for five years Hull #441. Great boat and tough. Hauled her from Baja to British Columbia. I noticed that the is no bulkhead dividing he head area and the dining area. This bulkhead attaches to the strut between the two and the mast post and the outer hull...

Pop Top questions

71' Mac / Venture poptop has large holes that bolts go through. My boat has a varity of washers on the inside. The PO taped over holes on the top with a HVAC SILVER TAPE. Does anyone know of replacement washers and or bolts? Any photos showing the set up out there? (I've looked and found very little...

Re: Winter Project

Thanks Seahouse and Grady. I will use plywood instead as the battery mount must be secure and able to take some punishment when mounted in the bow.

Re: Winter Project

Grady, or others, what are your thoughts on using PVC boards (1/2"thick x 6" w) for securing batteries. Bonding PVC to fiberglass hull. Are there any issues with bonding PVC to fiberglass? I have several other repairs and or mods that would have a few less steps using PVC vs wood. Thanks C...
