I am in. Am I still allowed if I don't have to drive to get there?

My boat is just down the bay a few miles at lynnhaven inlet.
We do the eastern shore/cape charles pretty often, last weekend we went over and the bluefish were hitting the whole way there and back.
Fort Monroe beaches/grounds are free and open to the public now.
Cape charles put in new docks in 2011, they are nice. We generally stop in there when passing by, you can stay all day for free if you show a receipt from town.
Other side trips...South of cape charles is Kiptopeake state park, neat to sail by there on the way and see the sunken concrete ships. We often spend the night there as long as the winds are not out of the southwest, nice beach, fishing pier, campground and park. Also around the southern tip you can sail over to Smith Island. Its a large uninhabited Atlantic barrier Island (similiar to cape lookout in NC) that almost no one ever ventures out to. The shells there are awesome if you like collecting.
About a mile or two north of cape charles is Cherrystone creek and cherrystone camping resort. Nice protected anchorage. The campground has multiple swimming pools and live music on weekends if you happen to be a camper...or arrive from the water via dinghy or kayak....So I hear...
If you have an extra day First landing state park is south of fort monroe about 8 miles. They have 20+ miles of hiking trails, camping and beaches on both the bay and river. There are no waves on the inland river side so its perfect for beaching the boat and spending the night That is where my avatar picture is from.
If the weather is too rough on the bay you can always sail down the river from fort monroe to waterside marina in norfolk, or the free landings in portsmouth.
